What’s in a Lake Surfing Workshop?
We are excited that you want to lake surf!
Our goal at Siren Section is ensures you are equipped with the water safety knowledge, basic skills, and community connection required for a fun experience. So, what's in a workshop?
Our Workshop
In 60-minutes, we teach you:
Water Safety
how to navigate your local surf spot, meaning you learn to read where it is unsafe or safe to surf.
self-awareness in the water.
what preparation you need prior to hopping into the water.
water safety techniques to prevent you from dangerous situations
Lake Surfing Skills
how to paddle and handle a surfboard in the waves.
various ways to stand up on the board.
warming up to your surfboard.
Then, we surf! This entails the opportunity to work 1-1 with our instructors. We set you up for success by putting you on waves that give you the ideal movement to help you pop up on the board. We love seeing everyone stoked to catch their first wave in hopes that you fall in love with the sport as much as we do!
The attention to detail in how you stand up and the joy we have for when you make the adaptations is what makes our lessons special, so let us know if you ever have any questions about the sport.
At Siren Section, we try to make the workshop MAGICAL. Yes, you saw that right! Between learning to surf and standing up, we connect you with our local network of women and queer surfers who create a welcoming, inclusive community. For us, it's the people who count. Therefore, we encourage all participants to exchange contact information.
Finally, we finish our workshops with the chance to take photos! We want you to have the opportunity to not only be present, but to also document the memory of catching waves. Then, we officially conclude our session.
Our Motto.
Surf. Skate. Girlhood.
We keep it simple and encourage all our participants to embrace their inner child by trying that activity they always wanted. Plus, it's a safe space for you to express yourself freely in the water, on concrete, and in a community.
